Sikås Art Center är ett litet hus som ligger i Sikås, Jämtland, norra Sverige.

Med Sikås Art Center vill vi öppna ett utrymme för att diskutera sociala frågor från olika perspektiv genom att använda konstnärlig praxis. Med detta residensprogram på landsbygden i Jämtland vill vi värdesätta och lära oss om lokal kunskap, färdigheter och historia och söka efter produktiva svar och bidrag från konstnärlig diskurs och praktik.
Konstnärerna bjuds in att återbesöka Sikås under en längre tid, de uppmuntras att utveckla egna projekt och att interagera med den omgivande naturen i Sikås. Varje år håller vi presentationer, till exempel utställningar, som delar med sig av årets konstnärliga produktion och frågeställningar.

Communal Knowledge/Allmän Kunskap var temat för residenset 2024 och för sommarutställningen.

Från och med 2025 kommer vi att bjuda in konstnärer som arbetar med temat Ekologier av reparation, med fokus på lokala och globala berättelser om ekologi, rättvisa, hållbarhet och historia.

Sikås Art Center is a small house located in Sikås, Jämtland, Northern Sweden.

With Sikås Art Center we would like to open a space to discuss social questions from different perspectives by using artistic practice. With this residency program in rural Jämtland we aim to value and learn about the local knowledge, skills and histories and search for productive responses and inputs from artistic discourse.

Artists are invited to re-visit Sikås over a long stretch of time, they are encouraged to develop own projects and to engage with the surrounding nature in Sikås. Annually we hold presentations, for example exhibitions, that share the artistic production and themes of the year.

Communal Knowledge/Allmän Kunskap was the residency’s topic in 2024 and of the summer exhibition.

From 2025 onwards we will invite artists working on Ecologies of Repair, focusing on local and global narratives surrounding ecology, justice, sustainability and history.
